4 Cheap & Easy Ways to Organise Your Makeup

Organising your makeup can be quite a challenge if your not a neat freak. There will come a time (if that time hasn't came already) that before you know it you've made one too many trips to your local makeup store and all of a sudden your makeup bag is bursting at the seams, becoming almost impossible to close and thereby overflowing onto your counter tops or desk being all messy. That's when you know it's time to get sorting and organising. Here are some simple and cheap techniques I use when organising my makeup stash.

Everything has a home

Find a place for your products and keep it there. If you're keeping your makeup on top of your draws you don't want to see it loitering over on your desk. In other words everything goes back to where it was found meaning it can be easily found again and is not causing a mess somewhere else. This can be applied to a lot more than makeup, pretty much everything really. It's my golden rule for organising.

Have compartments 

To keep things neat and tidy, everything should have a compartment within its home. Here I have 4 compartments, makeup, brushes, toiletries and lastly wipes and cotton pads, etc on the shelf.

Divide your draws

Dividing draws is great if you don't have much space to store your makeup, it declutters making it easy to find exactly what you are looking for! As shown above I have one draw dedicated to makeup which I divide into three compartments: eyes, face and lips. These nifty plastic compartments can be purchased from Muji for as little as £2.25. The compartments also stack on top of each other creating draw like things of their own if you don't have draws to store your makeup in.

Store your brushes using pen pots

Or if you prefer your brushes not to touch you could always get a larger pot and fill it with sand, beads, beans etc and stand them up in there.
