15 Ways To Naturally Increase Happiness Levels

Meet your happy chemicals:  Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin and Endorphin. These chemicals are responsible for our happiness and general 'feel good' levels. These chemicals are released from a range of events such as reaching goals (dopamine), getting praised/respected (serotonin) trusting or being trusted (oxytocin) and endorphins are a bit more complicated, they are released in times of pain or stress interacting with opiate receptors reducing our perception of stress and pain, making us feel calmer and more relaxed.

We all get a little down sometimes so in those times of need there are natural ways to intentionally make these chemicals flow.

1. Laugh
2. Exercise
3. Smell vanilla or lavender
4. Eat chocolate
5. Have small goals
6. Celebrate achieving goals
7 . Make new goals
8. Eat almonds
9. Cuddle often ;)
10. Give & receive gifts

11. Reflect on positive experiences
12. Sit in the sun
13. Go for walks
14. Listen to music, sing and dance
15. Smile!

A Natural Treatment For Jawline Hormonal Acne - Spearmint Tea

Acne is a pain the backside! Growing up I suffered from acne as a teenage mostly around my chin and jawline, acne that appears around these regions is usually hormonal so come 19 I was lucky enough to 'grow out of it' with no scars. My skin was left clear with one or two of the buggers appearing a month which was something I could deal with, no biggie.

Last year around the time of dissertation and exam period I began getting more than just the one or two odd spots, I didn't worry about it too much as I simply put it down to stress and assumed my face will all be back to norman once my exams were over. A couple of months after my exams, things were getting worse, my jaw was starting to look like breakout city and I started to freak out. I almost didn't go to my end of year summer ball because I was in such a state!

After changing a range of things in my life and visiting the doctors my face is slowly but surly getting back to how it once was. One lifestyle change that I believe has helped me the most is spearmint tea.

Hormonal acne usually occurs because of a higher than average amount of androgen. Androgens are a male sex hormone that produce sebum (oil) and clogs the pores from the inside. This means no amount of creams or washes are going clear the skin, they are merely going to be 'damage control'.

Spearmint has been shown to reduce the activities of androgens in the body. Specifically, it lowers the amount of free androgens circulating in the blood, which in turn leads to less oil being produced and less chance of pores getting clogged and therefore clearer skin.

I started off drinking two mugs of spearmint tea a day for a whole week, the results where amazing with a noticeable difference straight away. Spots had stopped forming and the redness had reduced. I now try and drink one mug a day and my skin hasn't looked so good in months! Not only that, I have noticed that my body hair is a lot finer and grows back slower and my breath are more firm.

If you are suffering from hormonal acne, you are not alone and there is hope! I would strongly recommend going to see your doctor and giving spearmint tea a go as it is one of the things I now swear by and will be drinking it perhaps for the rest of my life as I have been so happy with the results.

A before and after photo would be handy here but cameras were my worst enemy while living in breakout city.

If you like leave a comment below letting me know if you have ever tried spearmint tea or if you plan to.

Favourites: Simple Silver Necklaces

Hamsa hand - Regal Rose (similar) || Triangle - Brandy Melville (similar) || Tube - Brandy Melville (similar & similar

So when it comes to jewellery I prefer to keep things simple, especially when wearing it from day to day. Up until a few months ago you'd be lucky to find any jewellery lurking in my draws.
This hamsa hand necklace was my first brought necklace and I love it. I wear it pretty much every day. It is sterling silver, something that I believe is worth investing in with jewellery. It's simple but also different and just thought it was such a lovely piece.

Brandy Melville always has some amazing simple jewellery, from rings to necklaces. Their jewellery isn't sterling silver which is a big down for me but on the upside, they are incredibly inexpensive, ranging from £5 - £12 so it provides a good way to experiment with a few styles, especially if you're new to jewellery like me.

What style of jewellery do you wear, if any? If you like leave a comment below of your favourite piece of jewellery and where you usually get your jewellery from.

The Best Eye Cream: Origins Eye Doctor Review

About a month ago I decided to invest in some eye cream because I felt as if my eyes were looking tired and just needing a little extra TLC.
I hate the thought of putting harsh chemicals around my eye area because the skin is really delicate and knowing my clumsy self it would only be a matter of time before I get that ish in my eye. Knowing Origins uses natural ingredients was a big seller for me. The only problem was deciding on which one of their amazing eye creams to purchase.
As my prime interest was purely moisture I opted for the Eye Doctor eye cream. I use it both AM and PM and claims to moisture skin around the eyes.

After about a month and a bit of using the product I have nothing but good words to say about it. It moistures the eye area and has reduced the look of fine lines. You only need the tiniest bit, so although it is a little pot I have no worries about it running out anytime soon.
As if its amazing moisturising powers isn't enough, it smells incredibly good and also makes applying under eye concealer a struggle of the past, it simply glides on.
The Origins Eye Doctor is an amazing product if your looking to uplift your eye area. It moisturises, reduces fine lines, makes under eye concealer easier to apply and also smells heavenly.
Do you own any of the Origins eye care products? Leave a comment below if you like, what are your thought?

Until next time,
